yes, medical care is extremely expensive. It can easily cost 10,000 us dollars per day living in the hospital. This is the cost for living not surgery or special treatment.
Visitors going to us must buy travel insurance that covers the medical expenses.

If your employer provide health insurance, i think US may be better than Canada in medical care, at least I don't have have pay 15% sales tax, instead, I paid 8.25% sales tax.  But pretty soon, US will have there own health care system like Canada, not sure how are the gov't going to pay for the bill.

That is why people in North America usually have the insurance covered.  If we have insurance covered it's actually not that expensive.  

If you go to another country for work or for a trip you should buy travel insurance
