Lots of things to try, but first is save your data, copy the data to another drive and then start diagnostics. A good utility for this is to boot to a knoppix cd. You can get it here:

This may let you access the drive and copy your data off onto another drive.
After you save the data, download the manufacturer's hard drive diagnostics from their web site and run that to check the drive.
If the hard drive does not show, it is possible that you'll lost your partition soon.You going to require your recovery software to get your data back the only free one I know about is call PC INSPECTOR it does decent job
