  TheNational Highway Traffic Safety Administration -NHSTA for short- hasissued a recall of more than 25,500 fifth-generation Volkswagen Jettacars from the 2006-2009 model year, equipped with a 2.0-liter TFSIengine. According to the NHTSA, VW is concerned about the quality ofthe fastening screws on the driveshaft cover plate as they may not havebeen torqued properly during assembly and could loosen over time.
Infact, VW says that the screws could loosen to the point where thedriveshaft detaches from the gearbox. The German firm's U.S. dealerswill replace the screws on the affected models free of charge. Therecall is expected to begin around mid-June. |
