Sebastien Squillaci reveals he wants to leave
An Arsenal star who is out of contract at the end of the season has revealed he wants to leave the Gunners.
The Emirates faithful will be glad to hear it’s not Theo Walcott who has said this, but French flop Sebastien Squillaci, who has admitted he hopes to leave the Emirates as soon as possible.
An interview has emerged at Varmatin.com in which the Frenchman says he will definitely leave in June, but hopefully in January.
Flop
Squillaci signed for the Gunners from Sevilla in 2010 but has failed to impress in his two-and-a-half year spell at the club.
The 32-year-old has made just 24 league appearances since signing nearly three years ago and is behind the likes of Thomas Vermaelen, Per Mertesacker, Laurent Koscielny and Johan Djourou in the pecking order.
Arsene Wenger tried to offload the centre-back in the summer but his wage demands put off French Ligue 1 side, Bastia.
But now Squillaci will have to lower his wage demands as he bids to look for a new club and, according to the Frenchman, he is generating a lot of interest.
Interest
“I will be out of contract at the end of the season,” he told Varmatin.com.
“Under the proposals, I will leave. Perhaps during the January transfer window or else I will wait for the month of June.
“Marseille, Nice, Monaco, Bastia or Ajaccio are clubs that speak to me. I am 32 years old, I still have two or three good seasons [left in me].”
