There have been some rumours emerge that claim we are on the verge of making an £8 million move for Wigan Athletics gifted midfielder James McCarthy as boss Arsene Wenger looks to strengthen the Gunners squad.
According to reports in the Sunday People, Wenger is set to test Wigans resolve with the offer in the next few days, as he sees the young man as a player that will come in and improve the team after he has put in some sparkling performances for his current employers this season.
It would be a major shock if the rumours were true and we did bring in the £8 million rated playmaker and although many may disagree that he would be a waste of money. There has been talk brewing in recent months that some of the Premier Leagues big boys were keeping a very close eye on his development.
It is believed Liverpool, Everton, Chelsea and Spurs are all bid admirers of the lad and could also make an offer during this window.
However, does Wenger really need another attacking midfielder in the squad, considering we need to strengthen in other areas?
The midfield is by far our strongest area and I believe we just need a player like Yann M’Vila to come in and add some much needed steel to the line-up.
So although McCarthy is good, we do not need him yet. |
