Bacary Sagna admits his best form has eluded him this season and he is working hard to put that right.
Arsenal's 'Mr Consistent' has set high standards since he arrived at Emirates Stadium in 2007 and has developed into one of the world's finest right backs.
But by his own admission Sagna has struggled at times since he returned from a long-term injury.
"I’m going to be honest with myself - [I’ve not been] at my best," he told Arsenal Player.
"I’m not very happy with myself, but it’s football. It’s a part where I need to get better. I’ve been working since last summer but I need to work more because I’ve been out a long time.
"I didn’t really have a pre-season but at a high level you don’t have time to breathe. You have a game every three days and have to keep coming. I’m looking forward to coming back to my best.
"It’s a bit of everything," he went on. "When you don’t perform as you used to be when you’ve been injured for so long, you need your confidence back. That’s been a bit low recently.
"I’m a professional so I know it can happen, but not for too long. Everyone is waiting for me to perform well so I’m looking forward to doing it." |
