   北京建城已至少有三千年歷史，成為中國元、明、清至今的首都，也有850年以上的歷史，秦漢以來，北京地區的名稱先後稱為薊城、燕都、燕京、大都、北平、京師、順天府等等。「古」都雖古，仍依然巍然屹立，在政治文化經濟上引領中國向前邁進，更在既有的傳統文化上，吸收和引入國際經驗，躍然成為亞洲的中柱之都、全球的注目焦點。

Beijing is the political, educational and cultural center of China and as such it is rich in historical sites. Especially the Forbidden City has a richest cultural background and remains an important symbol for Chinese history. I been there for 2 days, still can't finish to visit 1/4 of the whole old Palace.
