[新聞] Cash from £75m sale of Ronaldo would be used to strengthen squad, Glazers tells

The Glazer family have told Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson that the estimated £75million sale of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid would not be used to help pay off the club's debts.
The Times claims the American owners are determined not to sell the Portugal winger but if he were to join the Spanish giants the funds would be made available to strengthen the squad.

Rumours surfaced the Glazers would use any sale of Ronaldo to make a dent in the United's £600million debt following their takeover of the club.

Make your mind up: Cristiano Ronaldo warms up during training for Portugal at Euro 2008.

But the club's enormous turnover means that the debt can be serviced within the Glazers' existing financial structure.
Ronaldo has public stated he would be interested in a move to the Bernabeu and Real are expected to make a world record offer after Euro 2008.
United have made a official complaint to FIFA about Real's courting of their 23-year-old star player but any wrongdoing has been swiftly denied by Real's president Ramon Calderon.
"There is no proof of any wrongdoing because there hasn't been any," he said.

"All there is is what the papers say and rumours that the player seems to want to leave.

"But at the moment a move is impossible because United don't want to sell him.

"It's United's right [to complain] but we haven't done anything and we are not going to do anything. It's a matter between the player and his club."

Real's coach Bernd Schuster also showed no sign of changing his stance yesterday.

"This Cristiano matter does not worry me nor am I obsessed by it," he said.

"While he doesn't play for Madrid all we can do is hope, although it's clear that he would be a great signing and would adapt well to our squad."

With Ronaldo's future uncertain, United were dealt another blow last night when  Cardiff City midfielder Aaron Ramsey revealed his desire to join Arsenal, while Lyon striker Karim Benzema has also snubbed a move to Old Trafford in a favour of a possible move to Real.
