The flying winger could be set for a return to England with the champions leading the chase...
Manchester United are set to launch a transfer-deadline swoop for Real Madrid winger Arjen Robben, and will offer the Spanish giants £20m for the Dutch international.
The huge influx of players at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer has pushed Robben down the pecking order for a starting berth and although the player has previously expressed a desire to remain with the club, a move to the English champions may be too tempting to ignore.
Alex Ferguson has spent very little of the £80m he recouped from the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo, and Los Blancos are desperate to reduce their net spend this summer by offloading some of their burgeoning squad.
Former Chelsea man Robben, dubbed ‘The Glass Man’ by the Spanish press due to his consistent injury problems, has been previously snubbed by Sir Alex Ferguson, who has had doubts over his long-term fitness.
However, Marca reports that Ferguson is looking to freshen up his attack and has earmarked Robben as the ideal candidate to bring pace and dribbling ability to his side.
Robben moved to Real Madrid in the summer of 2007 for a fee of £24m.
