With the Geneva auto show and the official debut of its mid-size 2010E-class still months away, Mercedes is getting careless about maskingthe new sedan. First came spy shotsof the car wearing hardly any camo at all, and now official photos ofthe car have leaked online
While the last round of spy shots left little to the imagination, thesestudio shots peel off the last bit of camo and tape, revealingsquared-off dual-element headlights like those on the Concept FASCINATION.Otherwise, not much is visible here that spy photographers hadn’talready captured: the upright greenhouse, sweeping backglass, andchunky C-pillar. There are no new photos of the interior, revealed inthe last round of spy shots.
Removing the tape from the body sides does reveal how sharply creasedthe new sheetmetal will be, leading some around here to drawcomparisons to the Honda Accord’s crisp folds, as well as the E’s big brother, the S - class. In contrast to the detailing and sculpting present elsewhere on thebody, the rear end seems oddly inspired in these small photographs, with taillights that might have been snatched from the Hyundai Sonata parts bin—quite a role reversal.
