Like the bases in Okinawa, they were built on the best land in the island. There are constant conflicts between US servicemen and the local residents. The crimes committed by the US soldiers fall outside the jurisdiction of Japan and they would be put on trial in US military courts which frequently pass out very lenient sentences.

Thank you felicity for your comment.  It might appear that I am very against US, it is partly true, nearly all of their foreign policies are absolutely noxious.
