Are you frustrated with your PC’s slow boot times? Even with Windows 7′s leap in faster boot up and shutdown times, there are still many ways where small programs can creep into startup and frustrate both the average and advanced user. Soluto is a simple, yet very helpful utility which maps your computers boot and and tracks what is happening at which time during boot, then helps you figure out which programs are slowing it down and which can be safely removed.
Believe me when I say this, this is a must-have little utility. Even if you decide not to keep it installed on your PC, it’s definitely worth taking a look. I originally heard about this piece of software during the Windows Weekly podcast I normally listen to and then I also found out that many other websites were also lauding the simple application as well.
The download is small, the program and interface is beautiful and simple to use and if you are like me and are constantly watching your boot time to make sure it stays within reason, then you must give this software pick a try.
Download took less than a minute on my connection.
Once the download is finished, you will be prompted to reboot in order for Soluto to map your boot specifics.
While you computer is rebooting, once on the desktop, a small counter will appear until all startup programs have finished loading.
Soluto will stay in the system tray, so you can right-click to open and view the results.
The interface is very simple to read and extremely helpful. You will be give your startup time and the number of programs which startup, which ones are necessary and which are not. Each item will have the time (down to milliseconds) it takes to start and if you click on the item, you will be given more options.

I recently noticed a longer boot time which took me by suprise because I used msconfig startup and other utilities to find out what the problem is, but none were very helpful. Long story short, my longer boot time was the result of a BIOS hardware setting and not a program, but it was Soluto that showed me exactly what was going on during boot that helped me troubleshoot the issue. |
