Why not?  They make the rule and you just follow it.  As others have said, you will be paying  more for the plane ticket to go back and probably spend more over there.  Win-win for everyone.

i don't really agree...since most ppl overseas haven't paid any taxes to deserve this payment.

Not sure which country you're in... but in Canada, we can open a HK bank account thru local branch of HSBC or Bank of China.  There's a small service charge, but I'd say it's a good return on investment.

You can't compare Hong Kong and Macau on equal footings. Macau has a much smaller population and much smaller in land mass. Maintaining the infrastruction and social services is a lot easier and cheaper. Most important of all: it enjoys huge and endless tax revenue coming from the casinos, which Hong Kong lacks.

Even though I am qualified to receive the $6000 as a Permanent Resident of Hong Kong, I won't apply for it. I left Hong Kong over 25 years ago and didn't contribute anything to the city to deserve such money. But, that's just me.

我雖然唔讚成分錢, 應該用在其他福利設施度, 但旣然分錢點可以少我地嗰份, 在這裏掙掙埋埋啲錢都係返香港使哂.

I do agree .... this is the benefit from the government before I left HK I am a tax payer for years.... so I think I deserve to take it :)
