Russell Westbrook will miss the first 4-6 weeks of the season after having arthroscopic surgery on Tuesday to alleviate swelling in his right knee.
Advice: The swelling, which Scott Brooks first mentioned last week, was reportedly caused by a loose stitch from his first surgery last April. The Thunder begin their season on Oct. 30, so even if WB returns in four weeks he'd miss a minimum of 12 games to start the season (or 21 games if he's out six weeks). With nearly one-quarter of his fantasy value in jeopardy, and no guarantees about his health when he returns, the former iron-man is no longer a viable first-round fantasy option. Reggie Jackson will be a must-own player until Westbrook returns -- with WB out in the playoffs last year, he stepped up with 13.9 points, 1.2 threes, 4.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 0.5 steals and 0.5 blocks per game. |
