over here audi dealership we are not paid for flat rates , it is hourly they want quality work instead keep coming back... they take their times... like install the exhaust system taking few hour, any ...
The advantage of flat rate is that tech will looks for jobs and try to makes time
however, some techs will do a bad job in order to make time
and the front counter has to deal with the angry customers...
I don't work on porsche.. so I don't know...
I agree what you say.. flat rates is making money but u have to know that vehicle so well in order to catch up the speed
for example to put H and R spring to the bmw , it only take less than 1 hour... but the first time I am working on it take more time like taking the capliers out on the front, second time u know the trick then it will be faster...
I don't think it is fair for you in flat rate when you are new in the shop
you could lose time mostly
you only make time when you are more familiar with the brand
