The Mid Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, Zhonggiu Festival, or in Chinese, Zhonggiujie (traditional chinese:中秋節), or in Vietnamese "Tet Trung Thu", is a popular harvest festival celebrated by Chinese and Vietnamese people, dating back over 3,000 years to moon worship in china's Shang Dynasty. It was first called Zhonggiu Jie (literally "Mid Autumn festival") in the Zhou Dynasty". In M'sia, Singapore and the Philippines, it is also sometimes referred to as the Lantern Festival or Mooncake Festival.

The Autumn Moon Festival, also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival, is a popular celebration of abundance and togetherness dating back to china's Song Dynasty over 1000 years ago. It traditionally falls on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month, a date that parallels the Autumn Equinox of the Western calendar. At this time, the moon is at its fullest and brightest, marking an ideal time to celebrate the abundance of the summer's harvest,and reminding many of the lore of the mythical Moon Goddess, Chang O and her rabbit.
