索科特拉島 (阿拉伯語：سقطرى；Socotra；Suquṭra；Soqotra) 是西印度洋西北部的一群島，位於阿拉伯海與亞丁灣的交界處是由4座小島組合而成，屬於也門哈達拉毛省領土。Socotra (Arabic: سُقُطْرَى‎；Suquṭra；Soqotra) is a small archipelago of four islands in the Indian Ocean. It lies in the north-western corner of the Western Indian Ocean, at the junction between the Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea, belong to part of the Republic of Yemen.

Socotra has been tectonically isolated from Africa and Arabia for the past 18 million years, with its fierce heat and drought have combined to create a unique and spectacular endemic flora. Huge number of flora and fauna on Socotra are endemic, i.e., they are found nowhere else on Earth: 37% of Socotra’s 825 plant species, 90% of its reptile species and 95% of its land snail species. One of the most striking of Socotra’s plants is the dragon’s blood tree (Dracaena Cinnabari), which is a strange-looking, UFO-shaped tree. The tree is so named because any possible injury to the bark results in a deep red liquid that excretes from the scar.; [' k. K7 F& O( \5 G7 G6 u
據說樹齡最高可達六千年，其深紅色的樹脂被命名為龍血竭，不但可用於醫藥、染料，也被用於巫術、煉金術與民間魔法。最新的調查報告顯示，氣候緩化令季節性雲量减少，造成索科特拉島水分缺乏，加上外來物種入侵，索科特拉島上幾乎已經沒有了自然生長的龍血樹幼苗。專家預期，或許在100年內，索科特拉島多數龍血樹都會死亡，這一植物將面臨滅絕困境。
The tree can live to 5000 or 6000 years old. Its red sap was thought to be the dragon’s blood of the ancients, sought after as a medicine and a dye, also inscribe as magical seals and talismans. Some scientists blame a lack of water caused by a decrease in seasonal cloud cover—and predict that many stands could disappear within a century.$ w2 }7 O8 {7 C4 |% o# S7 f8 f) U
