Arsenal snub for Argentinian
Lautaro Acosta, who was transferred to Sevilla for £5 million last week, claims that he refused to join Arsenal.
The ex-Atletico Lanus star has been presented as Sevilla’s first summer signing and he revealed during one of his first interviews that moving to the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan outfit was his top priority.
The 20-year-old has revealed that Arsene Wenger tried to sign him, but the Argentina Under-20 world champion snubbed the proposition.
The attacking midfielder is a Primera Liga fan and he has explained that playing for The Gunners does not attract him.
"It's my dream to go to Spain and join a team who my idol, Maradona, played for,” Acosta said.
"But Sevilla was not the only European team that was interested in me.
“Lanus received an offer from Arsenal, but I did not accept it because I just wanted to play for Sevilla.
"I have seen many games from the Spanish league and I don't think I will have trouble adapting my usual game here." |
