You seems so upset with US military presence in Australia. When I read the part "I would not be an American now for anything, not even for a grey-shingled mansion in the Hamptons and a guaranteed week in bed with Diane Keaton.", I can't help looking at the date of the article. Diane Keaton must be over 60 now, I love her as an actor, but going to that extreme, ... not sure it's a reward or punishment.....(just kidding)!

Though the voice is weak, there are still reflection on this problem. There is a documentary beginning with this stark warning called "Why We Fight". If you have not seen it, it may be worth your time to watch it.
