I would not wonder a land with a lot ripples shape.  I have visited a place in Washington, which called Water Fall Canyon.  Standing on the top of the place, you will see the canyon looked like a shape of big river with no water.  At the bottom of the canyon, there is a lot of ripple like hills.  Some hill has over 30 feet high.  According to the history, the land was suffering from water floating over with 100 miles long, for so many years.  End the water fall and the land become dry out and become the deep and long canyon.  That's why people have called it as Water Fall.
