Curlers wear specialty shoes, including one shoe with a strip ofteflon on its sole to create a smooth surface (known as a slider).Right-handed curlers wear the slider on their left foot, whileleft-handers wear it on their right foot.
The other shoe has a thin layer of rubber on its sole to provide traction on the ice.
Curling broom is used to sweep the ice surface in front of thethrown rock in order to clear debris and help the rock maintain maximumspeed.
Curlers also use brooms to help identify the exact target for their teammate who is about to throw the rock.
