英國ITV開始根據英國女作家Val McDermid的破案小說Dr.Tony Hill中的故事"Mermaids Singing"和"Shadows Rising"改編的英國懸疑破案劇集。之後又由其他人續寫，後來在第四季度第二集"Torment"又改編自Val McDermid的Dr.Tony Hill中的故事"The Torment of Others"。
Dr. Tony Hill這個角色是個大學裡面的法庭心理學家，他能進入自己黑暗的一面來捕捉那些連環殺手的想法，他在第四季中與一位女刑事探員Alex Fielding合作破了一個又一個非常棘手的懸疑案件！
