ON THE BALL FOR SAO PAULO
After recovering from a career threatening spinal injury Kaka shone for Sao Paulo, with his willowy frame belying a strong and agile player.

WORLD CUP GLORY
He may have only played a bit part in Brazil's 2002 World Cup win, but that doesn't stop Kaka enjoying the moment of triumph.

"EANUTS"
That was how AC Milan boss Silvio Berlusconi described the 8.5 million Euros he paid to bring Kaka to the San Siro in 2003.

SCUDETTO SUCCESS
In 2004 the devout Kaká enjoyed celebrating winning the Serie A title and the Italian Super Cup with Milan.

CONFEDERATIONS CUP GLORY
In 2005 Kaka celebrated winning the Confederations Cup with Brazil in Germany, he scored in the final, a 4-1 win over Argentina.

TURNING ON THE STYLE
In the 2004-05 Champions League Milan met PSV in the semi-final. Here Kaka marks the occasion by wrong-footing Mark van Bommel and dumping him on his seat.

A NIGHT TO FORGET
Kaka might have slotted his penalty home, but defeat to Liverpool on spotkicks in the 2005 Champions League in Istanbul was bitter pill to swallow for the Brazilian and Milan.

UNDERPERFORMING
The 2006 World Cup was not a massive success for either Kaka or Brazil. This strike against Croatia was his only goal; the holders were knocked out in the quarters by France.

CONTROLLED AGGRESSION
Sometimes criticised for his slight frame, Kaka has proved himself to be capable of handling and dishing out rough treatment when necessary, as Ryan Giggs found out in the 2007 Champions League semi.

TO THE VICTOR THE SPOILS
2007's Champions League victory over Liverpool in Athens avenged Milan's defeat in Istanbul and gave Kaka the chance to lift the famous European Cup.

GOLDEN MOMENT
After illuminating the Champions League in 2007 Kaka was justly lauded; here showing off the Ballon d'Or, France Football magazine's prestigious European Footballer of the Year award.

PRAISE FROM A LIVING LEGEND
And there was more praise for Kaka in 2007 as he beat Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi to be named FIFA's World Player of the Year, an award handed to him by compatriot Pele.

MUCH TO THINK ABOUT
January 2009 and Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti shares a moment with Kaka. The coach expects to lose his playmaker to Man City in a ?07m deal. The player is thought to be 50-50 about the move.
