When 617 horsepower and 0-to-60 mph in 3.8 seconds just isn't fastenough, take a lesson from Mercedes-Benz and simply add more power.Enter the SLR McLaren 722 Edition that packs 33 more horsepower for agrand total of 650, and a 0-to-60-mph time of 3.6 seconds, two-tenthsquicker than the standard SLR. Maximum speed is also bumped from 208mph to 209 mph, which required improved stability through a modifiedfront spoiler and rear diffuser. Elsewhere, the 722 adds a stifferdampening suspension, drops 10 millimeters over the new 19-inch alloywheels that conceal the 20-millimeter-larger brake rotors. Mercedessays the interior has a "thoroughbred racing touch" with carbon trimand leather-and-Alcantara upholstery. The 722 nameplate is derived fromthe victory won by the British racing legend Stirling Moss and hisco-driver Denis Jenkinson in a Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR with the startingnumber 722 (indicating a start time of 7:22 a.m.) at the Mille Migliain 1955.
