在今年8月12日，AMD计划中的“最强显卡”R700（Radeon HD4870X2）终于正式发布了。在AMD的产品策略中，基于RV770的Radeon HD4870/4850已经比较顺利地实现了对GeForce GTX260和GeForce 9800GTX的阻击，而对于NVIDIA高端的GeForce GTX280来说，RV770还显得弱了一些，因此R700的出世也正是为了击败GeForce GTX280、夺取性能之王的宝座，从而实现全线产品对NVIDIA的压制。

My friend bought a hd4870 recently. He said it is very nice. So hd4870x2 will be greater for sure.

hd4870x2 has better performance than hd4870 in crossfire because the crossfire bridge of hd4870 has limited bandwidth that the performance of the second card is heavily impacted
