The original song was written in 1933 by two Hungarians, Rezso Seress (music)

as Zoe Orosz from Hungary pointed out to me. 5.39.217.77:88983 m4 K. g9 ~' Q2 \8 m

Actually, the second part of the song in Hungarian is not so reassuring at all. 公仔箱論壇" ~( s! ]% @$ `1 S/ @
It is if at all possible, much gloomier than the first two stanzas, almost apocalyptic. * z- o7 I' g' m- s* j: `
It looks like the pessimism of the song was too much for the translators and they made their translation a happier one.
' v4 @; f$ t: |: c9 d7 P! wtvb now,tvbnow,bttvbIn that case one might argue that the translator has done a bad job
1 X6 W, X5 _% G' Y6 T9 N' d0 Hand 'ruined' the song, or in other words: a translator has to maintain the original spirit ( z  X2 t. {" b; Y0 w8 g
and intentions of the song. On the other hand,
& P+ u; K+ l# p- i3 ?a translator may also be more than just a translator and based on the original create a new song.
2 a% h4 B3 q5 X, I: C7 q! l公仔箱論壇Perhaps the Sam Lewis mentioned in the credits is responsible for this. ! K. `/ @( }  ^6 G

! @' N8 E5 I5 N2 DIt seems to refer to the horrors of a war at the end.

1 M! C# F" t. |* ~5 z公仔箱論壇Someone said that:  S* G6 w( Z  ]/ |. O- C6 {
I like this song very much! It is a little jazzy, and Sarah's singing and the music create the right mood for the song.
- }4 u8 H  ?4 ^, D2 C8 S$ o公仔箱論壇One thing is very strange, though. The mood changes between the second and the third stanza,
0 O  t! `+ v2 A9 g, `0 _公仔箱論壇because she wakes up and realises that the gloomy first two stanzas were nothing but a dream and the third stanza is then more chearful.
6 y+ m- f* m8 \  @1 K- wThis change of mood is strangely rather abrupt: tvb now,tvbnow,bttvb+ f% Y8 O; r* Y0 J3 d/ w6 G1 I+ [
the pause is less than a second -- Sarah has barely enough time to catch her breath.
