BLACK CAVIAR suffered an injury in winning her 22nd consecutive race at Ascot on Saturday.
The Australian superstar was found to have torn back muscles during the race after being checked by a vet and chiropractor yesterday.
“I have had my vets and chiropractors take some precautionary x-rays of Black Caviar,” said trainer Peter Moody.
“They have come back fine but she has some soft tissue damage. I think it is called the quadricep muscle. She is very tender up in her hindquarters but it is restricted to soft tissue damage.
“It is the tightest I have seen her after a race, though she has never travelled this far before.
“She’ll now spend four weeks in quarantine and then when we get her home we will give her three months off and get her ready for Melbourne’s Spring Carnival in November.”
There was a disappointing run from last year’s Arc heroine Danedream asshe finished last of four behind the Andre Fabretrained Meandre in the Group One Grand Prix De Saint-Cloud yesterday.
“He felt very good we had a good spot on the rail behind Shareta and he showed good acceleration,” said winning
jockey Maxime Guyon.
Over at Pontefract there was a return to form for Brown Panther after finishing last of four in the Ormonde Stakes at Chester on his seasonal comeback.
Part-owned by former England striker Michael Owen, he ran away with the King George V Stakes at Royal Ascot last year and went on to finish second in the St Leger.
Dropped to Listed class, he romped home in the hands of Kieren Fallon to come seven lengths clear of Lost In The Moment.
