幾千萬年前在英格蘭南部海藻化石形成的白堊崖，從法國橫越英吉利海峽到英國都會看到這片白壁，一直是英國著名的景觀。不過，由於海藻化石不夠強硬，一碰到大雨就會崩落，因此常有白堊崩塌。
