It's a simple story: man loves car, man is billionaire, man spends piles of money recreating modern version of car. It's noble. The new Lancia Stratos is a weapon of war mixed with a labor of love... a weapon of love? It's the creation of billionaire car nut and CEO of supplier Brose KG, Michael Stoschek, a long-time Stratos and rally car fanatic. Its creation is a long time coming. Long like 24 years long, like 1986, when Stoschek met Chris Hrabalek in Alta Badia, Italy at a the World Stratos Meet.
Stoschek and Hrabalek met with the designers at Pininfarina to hammer out a car in early 2008. The design started under the hand of rising design star Jason Castriota and eventually moved to the designers at Bertone, which was the studio behind the original Stratos. It's based around the Ferrari F430 chassis and its 4.3-liter V8 engine with an all carbon fiber body, carbon ceramic brakes, a tiny wheelbase like the original, and a weight-to-power ratio of just 5.5 lbs per horsepower.
As of now there is only one prototype vehicle, but there may be as many as 25 copies built when the design is finalized. 作者: sosodav 時間: 2010-12-10 08:42 AM

You wouldn't drive either one every day, so both are collectors items.
And since both are collector classics, you wouldn't need to worry about practicality or reliability.
The original 1970s version is worth about GBP200000 (according to Classic and Sports Cars mag from the UK), less than half of the new one, has rallying pedigree, yes the driving position is uncomfortable, but you don't care because it's a classic that has real history.
The new one is Ferrari that's not a Ferrari and it's dressed up to look like something it isn't and cost more than double than the original and the F430, has no history, you wouldn't race it because it's so rare.
They made nearly 500 of the originals, they'll make 25 of the new ones...
So... what's the point of the new one apart from "I built it because I could" - perfectly good enough reason I guess, and if you give me one, I wouldn't say no :) But still... pointless作者: sosodav 時間: 2010-12-10 10:44 PM
4#huiti know is nothing to do with the original and F430 ! but i always like the ideal of the update version of old sport car like FORD GT40 ! i think NISSAN should built a GTR powered Z240(as a landmark) or MISTSUBSHI should put a EVO running gear into a startron(史泰龍) and last an most importance FORD should make the new SIERRA RS500 cosworth simply RWD turbo'd big whale tail !!!!
