虎门大桥东起虎门，西接番禺，横跨珠江口，全长15.78公里，沟通广东东西两翼。

该桥于1997年7月1日香港回归之日通车，是广东省人民献给香港回归的礼物，“虎门大桥”四个字是江泽民主席所题。tvb now,tvbnow,bttvb1 l/ m8 P R; M

虎门大桥飞架珠江口，是中国第一座大型悬索桥，其主航道跨经888米，居中国前列，被誉为“世界第一跨”。该桥总投资近30亿元，其悬索桥部分均采用钢箱焊接，共用钢材2万多吨。桥的主缆长16.4公里，每根主缆由13970根直经为5.2毫米的镀锌高强钢丝组成，如果将两根主缆的钢丝拉成一条钢绳，足可绕地球一圈。; g6 Z/ A; _2 S- v$ G5 k

虎门大桥 - One of the mammoth achievement in modern architecture, it is both functional and aesthetic.  I love bridges, big and small, old or new.  Bridges join two regions, two cities, two cultures together.  With the bridge, we commune, trade, develop friendship, get married, have family, combining many distinct communities to become one big society.
虎门大桥 is a special kind of bridge, its part steel cable suspension, and part span.  The cable suspension forms a straight line joining the mainland on one side to an island on the other, it provides enough clearance for shipping to sail beneath it; the span construction is slightly curved connecting the island to the other side of the mainland.公仔箱論壇8 @+ b6 ], l  _+ L
