I remember the rate was close to CAD$1.50=USD$1 back in 2008... Lots of businesses in Bellingham and Burlington were closed because the lack of Canadian shoppers. A few gas stations at Blaine and Point Roberts were closed too.
The only good thing for the strong US$ is the Bellingham residents don't need to fight with the Canadians for groceries. |
