L.A. Times: Maybe Pau Gasol will play Friday in Miami. Maybe he won’t. Lamar Odom will be ready either way… he thinks.

The Lakers’ front line is fighting its way through illness as it approaches its most important week of the season so far.

Gasol did not attend practice Wednesday after skipping Tuesday’s game against New York because of strep throat. Lakers Coach Phil Jackson did not know whether Gasol would be available for the start of the team’s four-game trip.

Meanwhile, Odom practiced Wednesday despite an upper respiratory infection that forced him to leave Tuesday’s game briefly after he got sick on the bench in the second quarter.

Odom kept coughing after Wednesday’s practice while being interviewed by reporters.

He’s expecting another long outing against Miami after playing 38 minutes against New York.

“I’ve got to be ready to play long minutes because [Gasol] will probably be fatigued,” he said. “Plus, we’ve got a six-hour flight [east]. That sure doesn’t help.”
