United fans may not see midfielder Ji-sung Park return to action until 2008.
Speaking in Japan after the Reds touched down in Tokyo for the first leg of the Asian pre-season tour, Reds boss Sir Alex Ferguson said the South Korean international is still several months away from a comeback.
"He will not be available until December or January," the United boss said. "It is very disappointing news but hopefully we have the squad to cover injuries this year."
Park has not played since he scored in United's sensational 4-1 home win over Blackburn Rovers in March. Initially the injury was not thought to be serious, but Park required knee surgery in the US during April and was forced to celebrate the Reds' ninth Premier League title on crutches at United's Carrington training ground. |
