美國Oklahoma州有一隻鬥牛犬「貝拉」與同伴在住家附近的池畔玩耍，但此時卻有一隻豪豬出現，貝拉見狀在不知危險的情況下，向前靠近這隻「訪客」，沒想到竟遭到無情攻擊，「貝拉」被約500根的豪豬刺扎滿全身，幸好在獸醫師的搶救下，已無大礙。
豪豬的刺插進了「貝拉」的臉部、頸部、胸部以及腳，站在獸醫室手術檯上的牠，以「面目全非」的慘況來形容一點也不為過，獸醫立即替「貝拉」進行緊急手術，把豪豬的刺從「貝拉」身上移除，但不幸中的大幸，還好沒有傷及眼睛。
「貝拉」因為在住家附近的池邊與其它寵物一起遊玩時，剛好遇見前來喝水的一隻豪豬，「貝拉」無防備靠近豪豬，豪豬似乎以為牠在「挑釁」，於是展開攻擊，將身上的刺插進了「貝拉」身上，總數高達500根。
獸醫師Leonardo Baez表示，自己從來沒有見過豪豬會對寵物展開這樣的恐怖攻擊。因為尚有一些刺還插在「貝拉」的皮膚裡，為了避免感染，還須繼續接受治療。而這次的經驗，應該也讓「貝拉」上了一課且永生難忘。
