Description TL;DR – The genius of this app is that your passwords are generated out of *thin air*: They cannot be lost and you don't need Internet, backups or syncing.
This app will securely generate strong and unique passwords for any purpose, in a way that nobody can log or trace, and you can never, ever lose.
WHY DO I NEED A PASSWORD APP?
Inventing many good passwords is difficult; remembering them, almost impossible. Most people deal with passwords by re-using a few memorable passwords. However, this is effectively allowing each of these sites access to the others. Never mind what happens when one gets hacked.
WHY MASTER PASSWORD?
There are a bunch of password apps to help you with this problem. They either store your passwords in a "vault", or on the company's cloud servers. These approaches have *serious* drawbacks:
• Vault apps (eg. 1Passwd) need to be kept up-to-date at all times. You also need to make backups to avoid losing everything.
• Cloud apps (eg. LastPass) require you to hand over your keys to a company. You need to trust them, and become reliant on an Internet connection. Such a company is also a tempting target for hacks, scams, and government control.
Master Password is *different*: by using a unique advanced cryptographic algorithm, it can generate the password for your sites on-demand, completely off-line and using nothing but your name and master password.
There is no need for a vault or cloud: passwords aren't stored anywhere. It instantly generates the same unique password for each site "out of thin air".
There's nothing to keep in sync, no reliance on a third party, no need for syncing, copying or backing up. And if your phone or laptop get stolen, there are no passwords in the app.
OH REALLY? SO, WHAT DO I DO?
Begin by creating a new, strong and memorable master password. This is now the *only* password you'll need to remember going forward. Add yourself as a user in the app and log in.
To get a password, simply enter a site name in the search bar, tap "New Site", and your password for the site will appear. Done!
Master Password will always generate this same password for the site on your user, even if you drop the phone in the toilet that very instant, buy a new one, and recreate your user on it with the same master password. Your passwords are resurrected instantly.
Just use the generated password for the new site you sign up with, or modify your site's existing account to use it.
Notice there's no thought anymore: excited to try out a new website, you no longer fear the "create account" button that will ask you to think of a good a new password. Going back to a site you haven't used since last christmas doesn't mean painful attempts trying to recall your password for it.
IS MASTER PASSWORD SAFE?
Safety comes in many forms. Can hackers get into your accounts? Can hackers find your passwords? Are you safe from losing your own passwords? The Master Password solution was engineered to maximize your safety in all areas:
• Generated passwords are strong: Hackers cannot even reverse them from a hacked site's password hashes.
• Generated passwords are never stored: There is nothing to be found by thieves or officials confiscating your hardware.
• Generated passwords are ubiquitous: You don't need to sync or back them up, any device can create them using your master password.
• You can also save custom passwords: They require syncing, but are AES-encrypted.
• Your master password is protected: Salting and key derivation make sure hackers can't reverse or guess it.
