SirAlex Ferguson has made signing a new strike partner for Wayne Rooneyone of his priorities this summer and is said to be ready to offer£27.5million plus French striker Louis Saha for Berbatov.TheBulgarian has been a revelation in his first season in the Premiershipsince his £10.9million move from Bayer Leverkusen last summer, scoring23 goals, while he has also scored 26 goals in 44 appearances for hiscountry. Spurs manager Martin Jol is desperate to keep hold ofone of his prize assets and has reportedly offered Berbatov a six-yearcontract worth £70,000 a week in an attempt to secure his long-termfuture at White Hart Lane. But United manager Ferguson isapparently hoping the offer of a club-record fee plus Frenchinternational Saha will persuade them to release the 26-year-old andBerbatov's agent, Emil Dantchev refused to rule out any move.
