鳴沙山月牙泉距敦煌市西南6公裏。鳴沙山是庫穆塔格沙漠的東延部分，山體並不高大，東西綿延40公裏，南北寬20公裏，高約100--200米，主峰也不過1758米。大沙山北麓的鵠沙山丘頂，海拔隻有 1240米，但沙脊如刀，棱角分明。盾形、拋物銚形、新月形沙丘錯綜起伏，蔚為壯觀。

Due to the moving of the sand dune,this new moon spring becomes smaller and smaller,sooner or later ,it will disappear from our eyes.Anybody will visit Dunhuang in a short time must see this Spring before having regret.
