Fabio Capello wants to welcome old masters Paul Scholes and Jamie Carragher back into the England fold.
TheEngland coach has revealed he wouldwillingly recall the ManchesterUnited and Liverpool stars, who bothdecided to call time on theirinternational careers under previousinternational bosses.
Capello revealed to Sunday Mirror Sport: "Paul Scholes and JamieCarragher are very good players and the door is always open.
"If they want to come back, we will certainly have them back."
Capelloadmitted he is ready to approach both players in a final attempttopersuade them to reconsider their position with the national squad.
Headded: "We will make attempts with theplayers that have retired frominternational football, but we won't andcan't force anybody to playfor England.
"It is down to them."
Scholes, 33,called time on his internationalcareer in August 2004 during SvenGoran Eriksson's reign whileCarragher, 30, decided to retire fromEngland selection last summerafter becoming frustrated with life underSteve McClaren.
Both have been outstanding for their clubs in the past season.
McClaren hoped he could persuade Scholes to return to England duty - but failed.
Capelloaccepts the key issue is the players'desire to pull on an Englandjersey again. He said: "The most importantthing is for these playersto love the shirt and want to play for theshirt.
"This iswhat we need to transmit to them firstand foremost." Capello alsobelieves English football has reached adisciplinary crossroads.
He believes the time has arrived for Premier League managers and their stars to clean up their act with match officials.
Heexplained: "As a coach abroad, I was alwaysimpressed by the respectthe English players had for referees comparedto the players I managedin the leagues I worked in. In recent times wehave taken a step back.So we need to go back to respecting the refereesand officials.
"I believe managers, especially, need to be strict with their own players to enforce and promote this.
"You need to bear in mind that all the topplayers and the highest level are watched by children and young peopleacross the nation and influence their behaviour. So it is vitallyimportant they set the right example to them.作者: chienwei7 時間: 2009-5-24 02:26 PM
