i think sony....
sony looks nicer and that is easy to change the setting.

Coz if compare with others brand,canon's picture quality is better than others.
While sony's screen looks nicer .But don't forget , sony is made screen de. It may have different with the pic that u print it out.
Canon is made lens de. Good quality picture must have good quality lens.

I compared both brand's picture quality and found Canon is sharper and more vivid in the daylight (e.g. under the sun or well lighted) but Sony is superior with it's flash technology (e.g. in the party or BBQ night on the beach). So depending on your need. If you go clubbing, indoor party, or someone's home I recommended Sony, but if you take scenic pictures like mountain, buildings, theme parks, portrait under the sun then you may wise to get Canon because the picture is very sharp.作者: hkceo 時間: 2008-4-28 06:43 PM
Most of the lenses by Canon and even Nikon are old, year 1990+
while Sony is modified from previous Konica Milnolta with improvements.
Sony is using CCD, the details is better than CMOS.
Canon good for Landscape
Sony good for general.
Nikon good for fast action.

I am Canon SLR/DSLR user for many years, last few months I was looking for a normal compact DC for convenience. And my selection is based on:
1st = Wide Angle
2nd = Good Image Quality/Low Noise (especially at higher ISO, e.g. indoor shooting)
3rd = Fast/Responsive
4th = Price
After searching for a while, I got 3 DC with wide angle below for comparison and my comments:
1. Canon IXUS 860IS - Noise exist in even at not too high ISO, Canon G10 not in market yet ...
2. Fujifilm F100FD - uses super CCD produces good image quality up to ISO 800, except manual function is a bit less. I bought this although I am supporting Canon for many many years
3. Panasonic TZ5 - Wonderful features & zoom range, except picture will show a bit soft at after ISO 400, probably due to noise deduction)
And Sony is totally OUT for my requirements, what I can say is Sony is having more good design, colorful, new & high tech features to attract consumers (who prefer latest technology, e.g. Full HD) & for better marketing. It's a SONY! like.no.other作者: koalakun 時間: 2009-1-4 02:03 PM

If budget is allowed, u can try to google for Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3. Very high quallity image and built. Leica lenses, f2.0 24mm wide, very good for low light shooting, such as dim area like western restaurant without using flash. If this is not your favour, i would advice you to go for canon, why? I have been used for Olympus, Sony, Canon, Minolta. For Compact Camera wise, canon power shot really work. You just point and shot, let the computer inside work out the image for you. Sony is very nice and trendy, but feeling that the machine a little bit sluggish. The other two no need to explain coz not in your purchasing bracket.

Canon is a famous brand for making camera while Sony is just an overall better than average in all kinds of electronic
Many people will say Canon is better than Sony if your purchasing camera which is TRUE
However, if your budget is 2000 to 3000 then its another story you have to try to know which one suits you better
To be serious 2000 to 3000 for a camera don't expect it to be professional if you want to take a picture of an insect it is going to be blurry. With that price range, the camera you purchase
Canon: picture tends to be yellow when your flash is not bright enough
Sony: picture tends to be blue when your flash is not bright enough

I have been playing with cameras & darkroom stuff for 40 years. In the film era, Nikon was the best but for digital, Canon is! Canon's CCD is the best among all.
