Porsche 928
The Porsche 928 is a sports-GT car that was sold by Porsche AG of Germany from 1978 to 1995. Originally intended to replace the company's iconic 911, the 928 combined the power, poise, and handling of a sports car with the refinement, comfort, and equipment of a luxury sedan to create what some Porsche executives thought would be a vehicle with wider appeal than the compact, quirky and sometimes difficult 911.
Since its inception in 1949, Porsche has manufactured only six front-engined models, four of which were coupes, including the 928. The car has the distinction of being the company's only coupe powered by a front-mounted V8 engine, and the company's first mass-produced V8 powered model.
A hotter Porsche 928 went on sale in Europe in 1980, but America didn't get the more potent 234-bhp engine until 1982, along with a new four-speed automatic transmission. The Porsche 928 proved its mettle by reaching a top speed of 172 mph in Utah in 1986, making it the fastest production car on the road.

Porsche 968
The Porsche
968 was powered by an updated version of the 944's straight-4 engine, now displacing 3.0 L with 104 mm bore, 88 mm stroke and producing 240 PS (236 hp/177 kW). Changes to the 968's powertrain also included the addition of Porsche's then-new VarioCam variable valve timing system, newly optimized induction and exhaust systems, a dual-mass flywheel, and updated engine management electronics among other more minor revisions. The 968's engine was the second-largest 4-cylinder ever offered in a production car up to that time. A new 6-speed manual transmission replaced the 944's old 5-speed, and Porsche's dual-mode Tiptronic automatic became an available option.

Porsche 918 Spyder
The Porsche 918 Spyder is a mid-engined sports plug-in hybrid designed by Porsche and first shown as a concept at the 80th Geneva Motor Show in March 2010. The Spyder is powered by a 4.6 litre V8 engine, developing 608 horsepower (453 kW), with two electric motors delivering an additional 279 horsepower (208 kW) for a combined output of 887 horsepower (661 kW). It is the second plug-in hybrid car from Porsche, after the 2014 Porsche Panamera SE-Hybrid. Porsche intends to manufacture 918 units as a 2014 model year starting production on September 18, 2013, with deliveries scheduled to begin in December 2013.

PORSCHE 959 (1987 - 1988)
The first concept of Porsche 959 saw daylight at the 1983 edition of the Frankfurt Motor Show while the production model was unveiled two years later at the same auto event. The 959 was initially a rally car but entered the mass production a few years later although approximately 330 units were built. The 959 was powered by a 2.9-liter engine which developed 450 horsepower, combined with a top speed of 197 mph and a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in 3.7 seconds.

Porsche 930 Turbo
The Porsche
930 proved very fast but also very demanding, prone by its short wheelbase and rear engine layout to oversteer and plagued by significant turbo-lag.
Porsche made its first and most significant upgrades to the 930 for 1978, enlarging the engine to 3.3 litres and adding an air-to-air intercooler. By cooling the pressurized air charge, the intercooler helped increase power output to 300 hp (DIN); the rear 'whale tail' spoiler was re-profiled and raised slightly to make room for the intercooler. Porsche also upgraded the brakes to units similar to those used on the 917 racecar.

2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S
Turbo S continue to be propelled by a twin-turbocharged, 3.8-liter flat-six with different outputs, both of which increase for 2014. In the Turbo, horsepower notches up from 500 to 520, while torque increases by 7 lb-ft to 487. (The optional Sport Chrono package brings a temporary overboost function that bumps torque by 37 lb-ft for short bursts.) The Turbo S sees an even greater horsepower increase, from 530 to 560, but makes the same 516 lb-ft of torque as last year; the Sport Chrono gear and overboost function is standard on the S. With the Sport Chrono package, the Turbo S coupe can accelerate to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds and hit 198 mph top speed; the cabriolet should come very close to these marks, though the additional weight and drag of the soft top may result in small tweaks to the final figures. All-wheel drive is the standard, with shifts to be handled with a PDK transmission only.

是第一部以保時捷為名的車子,356代表他是保時捷的第356項商品。
歷史
在戰前,斐迪南·保時捷博士(Ferdinard Porsche)曾經製作了一部中置引擎的概念車稱之為 "Number 1"(Type 64 ;VW Aerocoupe;Porsche 64),所以356到底是不是保時捷製造的第一部車?產生了一些爭議。
356是由Ferdinand "Ferry" Porsche設計的(保時捷的創始人斐迪南·保時捷的兒子),356就跟它的祖先斐迪南·保時捷設計的福斯金龜一樣,使用四缸氣冷水平對臥引擎,後置引擎後輪驅動。在356的"車體"剛被保時捷的工程師Erwin Komenda設計出來時,它的零件包括引擎、懸吊系統跟底盤等等,幾乎都是從VW借來的。早期的356原型車的是由鋁材製成的,不過成本證明了鋁材應用在量產車上是非常不切實際的,所以後來還是改採用鋼材打造356的車身。
1948年六月8號,跟VW共用許多零配件的356第一次亮相,旋即成了眾所矚目的焦點,順便帶動了製造業在不同的產品型號使用相同的零件,以降低開發及製造成本的風潮。356空氣力學的處理和優秀的組裝品質,在1950年初期大西洋兩岸的車迷之間有很好的風評,所以當時無論是在街上亦或是在賽車場都時會常看到356的身影。

The Porsche 968 Cabrio pack almost the same features as the standard version of the car with a single major difference: it has a cabrio body style with a soft top replacing the default roof. Besides this part, it features the same 3.0-liter engine producing 240 horsepower and a top speed of 158 mph as well as a rear wheel drive system combined with a 6-speed manual transmission. The braking system is assured by ventilated discs on both the front and the rear. The car was manufactured for only 4 years, being then replaced by the newly-unveiled Porsche Boxster.

Porsche blends the best of both worlds with their newest release: the 918 Spyder Hybrid. Where many sports cars lack in sustainability, the Spyder Hybrid boasts both a 127hp electric motor on its front axle and a 154hp hybrid module on its rear axle. These features contribute to a laughably powerful combination of 887hp, for which the 918 Spyder Hybrid can thank its blistering 211mph top speed. Drivers can toggle between pure electric, V8 and hybrid modes, offering versatility for varying environments. These features might be too good to be true though, unless the car’s $845,000 price tag is personally manageable. Look for the 918 Spyder Hybrid to hit the U.S. in early 2014.

Porsche 911 ( 901 ) 2.0 LS rally [1965]
The earliest editions of the 911 had a 130 PS (96 kW) flat-6 engine, in the "boxer" configuration like the 356, air-cooled and rear-mounted, displaced 1991 cc compared with the 356's four-cylinder, 1600 cc unit. The car had four seats although the rear seats are very small, and the car is usually called a 2+2 rather than a four-seater (the 356 was also a 2+2). It was mated to a five-speed manual "Type 901" transmission.

1970 Porsche 914
In January of 1970, the 914 became available as the Porsche 914 in the U.S.(although there was only some small script on the engine lid to indicate that it was a Porsche) and as the VW/Porsche 914 in Europe. The car as introduced was a good product, but it had a few real problems. Perhaps because of its mixed parentage, the automotive press lambasted it, greeting the debutante with mediocre marks and some really terrible reviews.
On the plus side, the 914 was a true engineering marvel. The tub, despite being of targa-top design, had the rigidity of a 911 coupe. The car handled incredibly well. Driver comfort, by sports car terms, was wonderful. The two-trunk setup offered a lot of room for luggage, and the targa panel stored neatly in one of the trunks.
The torsion-bar front suspension was lifted straight from the 911, but front hubs were VW 411 units. Rear suspension was an all-new independent, trailing arm design featuring big 11.05-inch rear discs instead of the VW 411 drums, and the four-wheel-disc brakes worked pretty well. Few other cars in this price range offered all-independent suspension, fuel injection, a five-speed transmission—and the Porsche name. At the $3500 introductory price, the 914 appeared to be quite a bargain indeed. Unfortunately, the 1.7-liter Volkswagen flat-four was just too anemic. A Porsche with VW power and zero-to-60 times in the 13-second range found little favor among road testers of the day.
What made the car even more annoying, and contributed to the poor zero-to-60 times, was the terrible shift linkage on the supposedly glorious five-speed that was linked to the power-challenged engine. Reviewers castigated this setup, saying it ruined an otherwise good car. In contrast, the 914-6, with its 2.0-liter, six-cylinder Porsche engine, was thought to be a wonderful car, even though the engine was the only difference. The only complaint with the six was the price, an issue that killed the car after only two years of production.

2011 Porsche GT2 RS
The GT2 RS is not available with much in the way of driver aids, like performance-oriented traction control or Porsche's double-clutch gearbox. Fully defeatable stability and traction control are it. Unlike other Porsche models, though, these controls will remain off even after the ABS is triggered, a huge boon for track days.
Its 3.6-liter flat-6 engine uses two variable geometry turbochargers, VarioCam Plus (Porsche's variable valve timing and lift system) and an intake manifold that helps cool the intake charge by slightly decompressing it before it goes into the heads. Pumping 23.5 psi at max boost, the turbos are the motive force behind the production of an insane 620 bhp at 6500 rpm and 516 lb.-ft. of torque from 2250 rpm. It's the most powerful production car Porsche has ever made.

1969 Porsche 908/2 Spyder
Throughout the winter Porsche not only worked on developing the 908, but also on a 5-litre racer that would fit in the five litre sportscar class. Dubbed the 908/2, Porsche's three litre racer for 1969 was quite an improvement over the first generation 908s used. The most notable change was the introduction of a Spyder body perfectly suited for higher downforce races like the Nürburgring 1000 km and Targa Florio. Similar in design to the one fitted in the old 2.2 litre eight cylinder engine, a new crankshaft was developed, which cured the vibration issues. The six speed gearbox was discarded and replaced by a far more reliable five speed box.
These changes were as welcome as they were successful and Porsche dominated the 1969 season. Wash-out victories were scored at Brands Hatch, Monza, the Nürburgring, Spa and in the Targa Florio. Especially the 1-2-3-4-5 place finish in the 1000 km race on the treacherous Nürburgring track showed Porsche's might. For Le Mans three longtail coupe bodied 908s were prepared complete with all the modifications found on the successful Spyders. They were joined by the new 917s, which suffered a similar fate as the 908 had a year earlier with early retirements. In the closest ever Le Mans finish one of the 908 coupes finished just a few yards shy of the winning Ford GT40.

2014 Porsche Panamera
Originally unveiled in 2009 at Auto Shanghai, the Porsche Panamera was hailed by enthusiasts as the four-door sedan marking the long-awaited production update to 1989′s Porsche 989 concept vehicle. Now, the German auto manufacturer has unveiled the 2014 edition of the automobile. Replacing the old 4.8 liter V8 engine with a Biturbo 3.0 liter V6 under the hood, the car’s smaller engine actually produces more power than the previous design, creating 420 hp alongside 384 lb-ft of torque. Additionally, the upcoming model year marks the debut of the Panamera S E-Hybrid edition – an improvement over the previous hybrid that now boasts a more powerful electric motor and lithium-ion battery for an improvement in gas mileage from 33 mpg to 76 mpg. Billed as the first luxury plug-in hybrid, the Panamera S E-Hybrid is also faster than the previous electric and can go from 0-62 mph in 5.5 seconds with an all-electric top speed of 84 mph. Finally, cosmetic upgrades to the design include everything from a larger rear spoiler and more angled rear window to LED lamps and a multifunction steering wheel. Look for the Panamera to be available across the globe later this year.

With the automotive world abuzz thanks to the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Autoblog instead headed over to Leonberg, Germany to have a little fun with the 711-horsepower TechArt Porsche GTStreet RS. The latest inclination finds a 16 percent bump in horsepower, as well as a 25 percent boost in torque. Despite the Smurfish-blue paint job, the GTStreet RS is quite traditional in many ways. For example, Porsche’s short-throw six-speed manual has been left untouched. Similarly unaltered is the war-like single mass flywheel that doesn’t stop rattling in its cage until you get the clutch pedal all the way to the floor. That TechArt-fettled clutch, about 9.1 inches in diameter, has had its surfacing altered and hardened even further to deal with the greater stresses of launching this beast. For those of you with deep enough pockets, the TechArt Porsche GTStreet RS will go for around $700,000 USD.

Following the recently announced 911 and Boxster S Black Editions, Porsche introduces a new, limited edition Cayman S arriving later this summer. The 2012 Cayman S Black Edition comes in solid black and features a monochrome treatment with a black body and black-painted 19-inch Boxster Spyder design wheels. Normally contrasting trim pieces from the Cayman S are also painted for a uniform look. The side air intake grilles are painted black, as are the twin exhaust tailpipes and the model designation on the rear deck lid. The Porsche Cayenne GTS represents the first time in over 10 years that the "GTS" nameplate has been used by Porsche. Technically a Cayenne for the track, the GTS is based on the S model, with improved suspension, brakes and more horsepower. Porsche themselves have said that the GTS model handles better than the much more powerful Turbo and Turbo S Cayennes. Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0After many months of speculation and premature leaks, the 2011 Porsche 911 GT3 has finally been officially unveiled. One of the fastest production cars ever run around the Nordschleife (it ran the Nürburgring in 7 minutes and 27 seconds), the vehicle boasts a 4.0-liter flat-six engine derived from the 911 GT3 RSR racer and features forged pistons, titanium connecting rods and a shaft pulled directly from the racetrack model. With 500 horsepower peaking at 8250 rpm and maximum torque coming in at 5750 rpm, the GT3 RS 4.0 can run to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds and crack 124 mph in less than 12. Limited to only 600 units, the car comes standard with a sporty white paint and six-speed manual gearbox, and will be priced at $185,000 USD when it goes on sale late this year.

Porsche celebrates the 50th anniversary of its 911 model with a special edition release. The car first made its debut in Frankfurt on September 12, 1963, and has since enjoyed seven generations of successful descendants with the last one being the type 991 released back in 2011. The 2013 911 features the wide body from the Carrera 4 model (released in 1988) and pays homage to the original through the inclusion of the 3.8L flat-six engine, Fuchs wheels, a chrome grill, classically styled gauges, and houndstooth-patterned sport seats. This particular model will be limited to 1,963 units, and will come available in a choice of a PDK automatic or a seven-speed manual transmission.

2014 Porsche 911 Turbo
An evolution of the Porsche 356 – the German manufacturer’s first production automobile – the 911 has long been considered the flagship of Porsche‘s lineup, dating back to its initial debut in 1963. Now, the brand looks to continue the legacy of the two-door grand tourer with the introduction of the 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo ahead of its scheduled public debut at September’s 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. Both the 911 Turbo and high-performance Turbo S see a six-cylinder 3.8 liter direct-injection turbocharged engine under the hood – capable of 520 hp in the 911 Turbo and 560 hp in the Turbo S variation – while the transmission comes in the form of Porsche’s AWD 7-speed dual-clutch PDK, an upgrade over the run-of-the-mill Tiptronic. Boasting a top speed of 198 mph, the Turbo S can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 3.1 seconds while a Turbo equipped with the Sport Chrono Package nearly matches its quickness at 3.2 seconds. Cosmetic changes to the new release include a longer and wider body style, 20-inch alloy wheels, and options for the likes of LED headlights with four-point daytime running lights and a camera-assisted control for the main beam. Finally, a retractable three-stage rear spoiler and deployable rear wing complete the look and further aid in the car’s performance, which also boasts a respectable fuel consumption of 24.2 mpg. Expect the 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo to start at €162,055 EUR (approximately $212,507 USD) while the Turbo S will retail for €195,256 EUR (approximately $256,044 USD) when they go on sale this September.
