Arsenal Set to Make £12m French International First January Signing
Emirates Stadium side look to snap up midfield signing early in transfer window.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will look to re-ignite interest in Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila this week and has earmarked a move to make the French international the Gunners first signing of the January transfer window.
Wenger is confident he can lure M’Vila to North London this month and will look to make the midfielder the first signing of the window.
The 22 year old battler came close to securing a deal to move to the Emirates Stadium last summer but the deal collapsed at the last moment. Now Rennes are reportedly ready to accept offers of around €15m (£12m), a price-tag that Wenger is willing to meet in order to add some much needed steel to his Arsenal midfield.
There have been question marks about M’Vila’s poor discipline by Arsene Wenger is satisfied that the Amiens born enforcer has matured enough to be considered a worthy addition to his Arsenal squad.
M’Vila has found himself dropped by Rennes at stages this season and was also the subject to abuse from his own fans and this has pushed the Route de Lorient side into wanting to cash-in on the young talent this month.
Arsene Wenger believes his side misses the protection he needs to help give his more creative talents time and space on the ball and continued injury concerns suffered by Gunners star Abou Diaby is hastening the Arsenal boss into action with regards to the need to bring in a strong midfield presence early in the transfer window.
Yann M’Vila has racked up over 130 appearances for Rennes and has 22 international caps to his name and is certainly ready to ‘step-up’ to a side of Arsenal’s status and Wenger will be all the more keen to secure a deal in January as the tough tackling defensive midfielder is available for Champions League action.
Though Arsenal are not the only interested party Wenger believes he will be able to beat other prospective suitors to sign M’Vila.
