THE SUN: Alex Ferguson tore into Manchester United's fans for creating the atmosphere of a 'funeral' at Old Trafford. DAILY MIRROR: Sir Alex Ferguson slammed Manchester United's fans for their lack of passion and accused them of turning the New Year's Day clash with Birmingham into a funeral. THE TIMES: Manchester United maintained their pursuit of Arsenal at the top of the Barclays Premier League with a 1-0 win over Birmingham City yesterday, but Sir Alex Ferguson began the new year with a rebuke for the club's supporters. THE GUARDIAN: Sir Alex Ferguson described Old Trafford as having the atmosphere of a 'funeral' when he spoke after Manchester United's 1-0 win over Birmingham City. Carlos Tevez's goal means the champions have won 10 league games in a row on their own ground but Ferguson was distinctly unimpressed with United's supporters, accusing them of letting down the team.

DAILY TELEGRAPH: Sir Alex Ferguson last night accused Manchester United fans of creating a 'funereal' atmosphere at Old Trafford during the 1-0 victory over Birmingham which kept his side two points behind Arsenal at the top of the table. Although 74,959 were present to see Carlos Tevez score the winning goal - and celebrate by sucking on his daughter's dummy - Ferguson felt his players deserved stronger support.

DAILY STAR: Carlos Tevez celebrated scoring United's winner by whipping out a dummy. And then boss Sir Alex Ferguson accused the Old Trafford crowd of sitting like dummies.

• Also: Dean Ashton could be on his way out of West Ham after being frozen out by boss Alan Curbishley.

DAILY EXPRESS: Sir Alex Ferguson blasted Manchester United's silent fans yesterday as Carlos Tevez produced a sucker punch to put their title challenge back on track. Ferguson likened the atmosphere at Old Trafford for the 1-0 win over Birmingham to 'a funeral' as match-winner Tevez tried to lift the mood with a bizarre goal celebration.

• Also: Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger delivered an astonishingly bullish boast last night as his team began the New Year by maintaining their two-point lead at the top of the Premier League.

THE INDEPENDENT: In a season which has already revealed the colour of Stephen Ireland's Superman underpants, Manchester has come to expect some originality in its goal celebrations. Carlos Tevez opted for a pink dummy, whipped from his shorts and placed in his mouth after he had scored the goal which restored some order for Manchester United.

Come on United's supporter, show us what Old Trafford should be like !!!
