Manchester United, Chelsea and Everton are on red alert after Real Madrid midfielder Fernando Gago indicated he is keen to leave the Spanish Champions this summer.
The enforcer has struggled for first team action at Real since Jose Mourinho became boss and spent last season on loan with Serie A outfit Roma.
The 26-year-old’s agent has now indicated that the former Boca Juniors star will leave the Bernebeu this summer and has ruled out a big money switch to either Turkey or Russia, leaving the Premier League as a viable option.
According to London 24, Gago’s representative Marcelo Lombilla said: “Gago is not going to persuade Jose Mourinho to select him, therefore, he is currently at a club that does not have the slightest confidence in him.
“If it were up to me, he would have left months ago.
“We hope that the situation is resolved quickly. However, he will not play neither in Russia nor in Turkey.”
Everton have held a long-standing interest in the Argentine, while Manchester United are in need of central reinforcements, with Darren Fletcher still ill and Paul Scholes unable to play every week.
