BLACKBURN ROVERS v LIVERPOOL

Overall League Record: Liverpool 48 wins, Blackburn 34 wins, Draws 36.

At Blackburn: Liverpool 14 wins, Blackburn 25 wins, Draws 20.

Last season at Ewood Park Benni McCarthy scored the only goal of the game to give Rovers all three points.

It was the Reds first defeat in eight visits to Blackburn after a run of three wins and four draws. Their previous reverse had come in November 1996 when they lost 3-0.

Overall in the Premier League the Reds have won four times on their visits - drawing four and losing five.

Liverpool have lost just once in the last 17 League meetings home and away winning seven and drawing the other nine.

The Reds have kept only one clean sheet on this ground in the league since 1946 (22 visits) - in 2006 when Robbie Fowler scored in a 1-0 win.

Since the inception of the Premier League Liverpool have won 11 and lost six of the 26 meetings.

Liverpool's biggest win at Blackburn came in February 1966 when they won 4-1. That is the only time Liverpool have scored more than three in a League game at Ewood.

Their heaviest defeat was suffered in September 1913 when they were beaten 6-2.

Should Liverpool fail to score today it will be the first time since 1923-24 that they failed to score in successive league visits to Blackburn.

Andriy Voronin played on this ground last season for Bayer Leverkusen in a goalless UEFA Cup match which clinched a 3-2 aggregate success for the Germans.

If Steven Gerrard plays today he will captain Liverpool in the Premier League for the 131st time - overtaking the previous record of Sami Hyypia (130).

Liverpool have the best away record in the Premiership - four wins and a draw from five games.

If they win today they will record their best away start to a league season since 1990.

The Reds have not kept a clean sheet in their last six games in all competitions.

Liverpool's next draw will be their 150th in the Premier League.

The next goal Liverpool concede will be the 100th in the league under Rafa Benitez (in his 125th game).

Danny Shea was the last Rovers player to score a hat-trick against the Reds - he scored four times in that 6-2 win.

The last player to score a hat-trick in the fixture was Billy Liddell who scored 3 for the Reds in a 3-3 draw in February 1958. He is one of only two men to achieve the feat following Dick Forshaw in 1923. Ian Rush netted three in an away League Cup tie in 1994.

The last five games here in all competitions have produced 17 goals, two red cards and three penalties.

Last season Rovers lost seven games at home in the Premiership - more than any other team that finished outside of the bottom seven. Only Manchester City, West Ham and Watford lost more.

This season they have lost just once at Ewood - to Portsmouth.

They have fared well against the top sides this season having drawn at Chelsea and at home to Arsenal and beating Manchester City.

Benni McCarthy scored in both league meetings against Liverpool last season – a feat matched by only William Gallas of Arsenal.

He has scored four goals in his last three league games.

Blackburn boss Mark Hughes celebrated his 44th birthday two days ago and will go into the game looking for his 50th Premier League win as Rovers manager.

They have won each of their last seven games in all competitions including the last four in the league.

They have not kept a clean sheet in their last six games in all competitions.

Blackburn have lost only once in the last 16 league games - at home to Portsmouth in September.

Rovers' win at Spurs last Sunday was their fourth league win a row - their best since May 2004.

Should they win this game it will be the first time since November 2000 that they have won five in succession in the league.

Brad Friedel has made 124 consecutive Premier League appearances for Rovers.

During the early part of his career Friedel made 31 appearances for Liverpool while Stephen Warnock scored once in his 67 games for the Reds.

Only Friedel and David Bentley have played in every minute of their Premier League campaign this season.
