Gunners clash gets Big Sam fuming
Sam Allardyce and Rafa Benitez may not always see eye-to-eye in the public domain but the Newcastle boss has joined his Spanish counterpart in labeling the Premier League fixture schedule ‘a disgrace’.
Allardyce is outraged by Newcastle’s run-in to the Christmas schedule, which sees them play more matches in December than in the combined months of October and November.
The cause of the Toon boss’ fury is the rearranged clash with Arsenal, which will now be played on December 5 due to television scheduling.
That means Newcastle will play a total of eight games in December, something Allardyce cannot come to terms with.
“It’s an absolute disgrace,” he said in The Daily Star.
“We will play four games in 15 days at the start of December and then they expect us to play four more in just 10 days at the back end of the month.
“By the time this (current) month is over, we will have played just three games in total – and then the same again in November.
