English translation of the original " G7 I+ ^& }; g/ `
The original song was written in 1933 by two Hungarians, Rezso Seress (music)
and Laszlo Javor (lyrics), and consisted of the first two stanza $ Q! w1 b0 Q( d$ k9 N: {- B% p
only -- the last stanza was added later, also first in Hungarian,

Actually, the second part of the song in Hungarian is not so reassuring at all.
It is if at all possible, much gloomier than the first two stanzas, almost apocalyptic.
It looks like the pessimism of the song was too much for the translators and they made their translation a happier one. 4 `9 x8 U6 Q5 r& t
In that case one might argue that the translator has done a bad job / G* G4 a$ M" U9 S) t
and 'ruined' the song, or in other words: a translator has to maintain the original spirit tvb now,tvbnow,bttvb  q4 B( M1 [; P; v! g/ I
and intentions of the song. On the other hand, 公仔箱論壇9 n, l& g4 n+ i! ^* z
a translator may also be more than just a translator and based on the original create a new song.
Perhaps the Sam Lewis mentioned in the credits is responsible for this.

Zoe Orosz also made a translation into English of the original Hungarian song, adding: TVBNOW 含有熱門話題，最新最快電視，軟體，遊戲，電影，動漫及日常生活及興趣交流等資訊。+ O4 a4 k5 |0 Y8 \4 `* C
It looks like Javor wrote the first part and Seress the second. It is very-very gloomy. tvb now,tvbnow,bttvb+ g% ?7 n) ?8 y+ W( ~
It seems to refer to the horrors of a war at the end. 0 T3 U4 X3 u7 F5 H( \# j
I'm glad that there's an English version that makes it less terrible. To be honest,
I don't think it was ruined at all. We are a very pessimistic people, tvb now,tvbnow,bttvb. ~7 n; R7 @9 h1 W" W/ C

This change of mood is strangely rather abrupt:

I would have expected the change in mood between stanzas two and three to be build up a little more gradually, 公仔箱論壇* E9 R1 u% ~% e8 K

I do not think this is what is meant here. The change of mood, the use of the words
"I was only dreaming / I wake" and also the lines "I hope /
