No, not where I live.  The cherry trees like cold climate.  They are usually around outer western NSW, funny, the suburb named Orange is actually famous for its cherries.

We have a lot of cherries at the south island of New Zealand because of its cold weather . The owner of the orchard has to employ some workers to open gun fire to scare away the birds from eating the ripen cherries.
