Int Football - Carrick out of England game
Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick will miss England's friendly against the Czech Republic at Wembley on Wednesday after injuring an ankle playing against Newcastle United.
Carrick limped off after 24 minutes and Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said the ankle was badly swollen and would sideline him for at least two or three weeks.
The match finished 1-1, with Darren Fletcher equalising for the hosts after Obafemi Martins put Newcastle ahead.
Manchester United are already missing Cristiano Ronaldo and Owen Hargreaves through injury, while Brazilian playmaker Anderson is at the Beijing Olympics |
